I've never thought of this as a metric that should be measured till now, but it would be interesting to know the range of gas mileage that a vehicle can exhibit. Maybe some vehicles will only get a little less efficient if you push them super hard, while others will be drastically different.

EPA mpg estimates on window stickers are listed with a mpg range.

I almost always by default use it as a reference point since real world numbers are what really get my attention over anything. And then of course knowing the specifics of those real world numbers.

I was wondering

I was wondering about this too. Me and some friends are having oldtimer cars renewed and this engine would be prime for those. I think you can get some nice informations here: Alaska DMV Driving Test. CDL Practice Test, Motorcycle DMV (AK) - Driver-Start.com

That's definitely a given. Hondas use 240cc injectors on a 4 cylinder, SRT4 engines from 04/05 use 530cc injectors on a 4 cylinder. The amount of fuel usage is drastically different but the amount of power is drastically different. You smash the gas pedal on a Honda for a minute and use 5L of fuel, do the same on the SRT and you'll be using 10+L of fuel. (figures used for examples, cc aren't exact but in average range)

Maybe the Santa Cruz will get the Volkswagen Amarok’s diesel V6 engine and 2.7-liter twin-turbo V6. That's what Hyundai Australia product boss Andrew Tuitahi said to Motoring.

Quote:
“What we’ve seen typically is a four-cylinder diesel workhorse but we’re watching Amarok come with a V6, the Ranger Raptor with a 2.7-litre V6 turbo maybe.”

They at a tough point because right now car makers are talking about phasing out diesels and going right to cleaner setups, meanwhile we have yet to see anything about the Santa Cruz. Best way to proceed is with a hybrid powertrain, even if it means further delaying the SC.

Maybe we'll see the Volkswagen Amarok’s diesel V6 engine in the Santa Cruz. Hyundai Australia product leader Andrew Tuitahi was interested in it when speaking for Motoring. He also mentioned the upcoming Ford Ranger's 2.7-liter twin-turbo V6 engine as a source of inspiration.
