Santa Cruz and 4 Other Hyundais Win Good Design Awards

Hyundai is doing well when it comes to vehicle design, and now it has some more awards to evidence that point. The Santa Cruz concept and 4 other Hyundai projects won GOOD DESIGN awards.

The awards are given out by a judging panel evaluated submissions from thousands of leading manufacturers and graphic design firms from over 47 countries. Judges are in search of the most innovative and cutting-edge industrial, product, and graphic designs from around the world.

GOOD DESIGN awards were given to Hyundai's upcoming IONIQ alternative fuel compact vehicle, the all-new Tucson, the new Elantra, the Santa Cruz concept and Hyundai's 'Sculpture in Motion' art installation.

The Santa Cruz concept was chosen for its successful interpretation of truck utility for a new generation of buyers. The concept was designed to meet the needs of those looking for greater design individuality, efficiency and manoeuvrability.

Quote:
The Santa Cruz delivers with a wide, sure-footed stance and an aggressive side-profile. To provide sufficient cargo room and access to the rear seats, the Santa Cruz offers an innovative tailgate extension that allows the bed length to be expanded. It also incorporates rear-hinged, reverse-opening rear doors that integrate seamlessly with the front door design.
All winners of the GOOD DESIGN awards are posted on the Museum's website here --> The Chicago Athenaeum - Home and The European Centre | Home

They will be published in the GOOD DESIGN Award Yearbok for 2015-2016 as well.

I was actually quite surprised to see they came out with a truck concept that looks amazing, amazing enough that there's not a single thing I would change. Have yet to see any mentions of what could be changed to make it better.

OK, but it is a concept so you know that it will see a lot of change asit becomes a production vehicle.
