I have the same issue. I am wondering if it has something to do with the self leveling shock. Maybe it’s just doing what it’s supposed to do. Why it’s nore audible when there is no weight in the truck

If you Google the phrase "nivomat knocking noise" you'll probably find a half dozen complaint threads on every make/model forum that they've ever come stock on.

Picked up my SC (22 with 25K) from dealer this week. They replaced the strut insulators first per Hyundai instruction. Dealer wasn’t happy with results and ordered new struts for rear. Took a week to receive them. But noise is completely gone now. Back to like it was when new.

When you say insulator are you referring to top shock mount or are you talking about the separated spring perches?

Started about 6 months after I bought my Santa Cruz. Little clunking noise in the rear end. Took it to dealership they changed out the shock mounts. Seem like got better for a little bit maybe my imagination. Noises back have taken it in two more times. First time they heard it but said I had a ratchet strap in one of my boxes in the back of my truck that was making the noise. The strap was removed the noise is still there. Took it and again today but the noise was not able to be heard. Yesterday the noise happened all day long today not so much. Yesterday it was about 30° today it's about 50 and raining. Not sure if that has anything to do with it. Have an appointment for next week to see if we can figure it out. It seems to happen most when backing out of my drive, accelerating slowly, sitting at a hard stop and gently letting off the break. And when hitting any kind of bump in the road even the slightest. I have read of other people having this problem and told the mechanic at the dealership that there's a form that has this problem listed on it. No one seems to have come back with an answer as to if they've ever gotten rid of it. If anyone has had this and figured it out please respond!
Do you have anything in the trunk? Maybe check it.

Dealer just said the strut insulators. Honestly don’t know if that was for top, bottom or both. He wasn’t particularly happy with Hyundai for not letting him swap strut assembly which includes all new insulators but he has to follow their lead. That did not fix the problem to their satisfaction, still had the clunking noise, so they ordered the full assemblies. Took almost a week to get. Besides fixing the noise the suspension just feels better to me. But I also put on new pirelli weatheractive tires so that could be part of the improvement in ride and comfort.

Took mine in for the rear passenger thunking noise, turns out it was a "bump stop" in the rear shock absorber installed upside down at the factory and rattling around. They fixed it and sound is gone.

Unless they were talking about something internally on the shocks and not the foam spacer that sits up in the shock mount, I think you got BSd.

Either way, I am reporting that it fixed my issue, and it may help the others that have had the same issue find a solution.
What they did was shortcut a TSB by not replacing anything, and instead just tightened up the parts.

You couldn't hear your bumpstops over the sound of your tires rolling on the ground. It's knocking at the shock mount.

Backing up...and going over the garage bottom seal mine makes a bump noise like something is loose..of course it could be the Jack-Pak I relocated there :)

I just made a post before someone (thankfully) directed me here. The best way to describe the noise I have is like something is rolling around the bed, and it happens when backing up (especially on a decline). I do have some straps in the side compartment, however, I wrap them up neatly and have a decent number of them in that cubby. So, the room for them to rattle would be very limited for the noise level and consistency. I'll double check, but from what I see here, sounds like it could be a mechanical issue.

It’s your shocks I had same issue replaced the shock assembly and poof noise gone
Yeah, starting to think that… I took everything out of the bed and did the test again, still there. I booked a service appointment for next week, so I’ll see what they can do. Thanks! 😁
