Throttle House has a new review out where they compare the Santa Cruz with the Maverick. They seemed torn between the two trucks giving both of them nods in different categories like the Santa Cruz's ride and interior.
I'm with you. The Mav just doesn't have the fit and finish I want in a vehicle. I still think the interior looks chinzy.Yeah, it was a pretty fair comparison, I thought. It really comes down to if you want a small truck, or a truckish SUV. I'm in the latter camp, firmly. Very different target audiences, even if they compete on paper.
Gotta say I love the space / design with the door panels on the MAV , similar to the Volvo concept when they worked to remove the mid speakers from the doors to get that space backI'm with you. The Mav just doesn't have the fit and finish I want in a vehicle. I still think the interior looks chinzy.
I’ve watched a ton of videos on the SC but non of them show what the difference in the trucks, like the bed liner , the curve on the bottom of the door to keep out dirt, dust cover on engine, sound proofing under the hood , finished fenders under the hood, better material's,fit and finish and the list goes on. The Maverick is just a cheaply made truck not to say it won’t be good just cheaply made.I thought they did a nice job in the comparisons. They are a bit more kind than other reviews I've seen on the Mav concerning the ride. Others have commented the ride is rougher with the Mav.
The standard logic I've seen in every review of the Mav vs SC is:Some of these reviews are obviously subjective toward the Maverick for no apparent logical reason.
I think we all know the outcome if this was the case or if it was a truly blind review. The Santa Cruz would win going away.I'd love to see a review where someone switched the logos and had random people test drive both. If you tricked someone into thinking the SC was made by Ford it would be praised because its hard to overcome this:
One thing no one mentioned is the Ford F-150 has more deaths then any other auto. The Santa Cruze is a top safety pick. I can bet money the Maverick won’t match the SC.The standard logic I've seen in every review of the Mav vs SC is:
a) its cheaper, b) the interior is more rugged and/or functional and c) it looks like a baby F150
These are all seen as winning traits to the reviewer.

If you play word association TRUCK = FORD and thus everyone else is inferior. Second place is the first loser right? If you take the Taco + Ram, two well loved trucks, your still not up to the F150 popularity - which is just crazy when you think about it.
