^^^ALSO! Took my rear headrest off and put them in a plastic trash bag and hide them under the driver’s side rear passenger seat for when I need them. So far 8 months later never took them out of the trash bag.

Plus, I don’t have that little ugly non functioning sliding window. My rear view is unimpeded!

How do you have a different rear windshield?

I have a solid rear window. I do NOT have the activity package or a turbo engine (upper trim level) which contain both the manual opening rear window and the sliding roof skylight. If you review the SC build site you’ll see what comes with each trim level. You either get both the skylight AND the sliding rear window or nothing. I would have loved to have the skylight but didn’t opt for the activity package. I might also add the activity package, about $2.4K, also gives you the OEM roll-up tonneau cover and a few other goodies.

wow, that really does seem to open up the back view!
I've got the Limited with all the cameras, and I've gotten used to using them to compensate for the crummy visibility out the back. In fact, I'm loving all those cameras!

Removed them on day 2 of ownership - between the stupid tiny sliding window and the head rests rear visibility was very obstructed :( this weekend I start towing so the real challenge begins. The cameras will help but once the boat is hooked up the backup camera in the tailgate becomes a full screen view of the bow and nothing more. If its really bad I plan on installing a backup cam near the 3rd brake light so I can see over the bed with the whole trailer in the picture ideally.

@JMII - “stupid tiny sliding window”

It wouldn’t be stupid if it had a power button to operate it w/o climbing into the backseat like a 5 year old.

BTW - I took mine out the same day I picked it up from the dealer. Did I win? LOL

Some day, if I get time, maybe I can make a project out of this. They make linear actuators (available on Amazon) that look like they would fit well, to electrically open the rear window. They also make a small wireless remote control unit to pair with these…

For the dog cover…idea….either buy some round aluminum bar/rod stock the same size as the headrest support posts and cut it to fit and put it in one of the holes…or go to an auto salvage yard and get a headrest from a Hyundai with the same size round support rods and cut the rod off and put it in one of the holes…sticking out enough to anchor the dog cover.

The frame around it still blocks your view. I'd say 10-15% of the rear window is blocked even with the head rests out. Two things I didn't want on my Limited were the sunroof and the sliding rear window because I'll never use either of them.

Could work, but you need something to unlatch it too.

As many mentioned when the SC was launched the prefered solution was a mid-gate situation were either the whole glass goes down, or when the seats folded you could access the bed. Even a hatchback like opening would have been a nice setup.

Totally agree. I would definitely open it more frequently (or ar all for that matter) if it were a power window. Love the idea of removing the headrests though. Going to do that right now before I forget!
