So, yesterday I was driving on the Intestate in moderate to heavy rain. I understand the physics of standing water and was driving at reduced speed. There were three lanes. I chose the middle lane as the right lane was soon to end. A group of driving school dropouts blew by on both sides. One of the idiots darted in front from the left. Another crowded me from the right. The SC reacted with Alerts and heavy braking. The system seems to work well.

Mine has kicked in twice both at inappropriate times one when i was pulling up to a stop light with a car in fron it jerked me to a stop..
and the other i was backing in to a parking spot with a fence pretty close behind it. It jerked to me to stop.. I thought i had hit something. Even got out to check.

If it acts inappropriately, and errs on the side of caution sometimes…so to speak, perhaps that’s good…better safe than sorry IMHO. Of course it’s good to be accurate, but these are machines/computers and have no idea of your “intent”, and they work pretty well for what they are, and are 1000% better than what we had when I was growing up in the 60s and 70s…..NOTHING. I would likely be more concerned if these systems did nothing ever. My 2 cents.

Yeah it definitely doesn't anticipate a seasoned drivers actions. I find it a bit intrusive during evasive maneuvering.

Yep, it could be a bit intrusive…but just imagine how upset you or anyone else will be when the system fails to recognize a potential hazard and then you can’t avoid an accident. That’ll be a post ….”my safety system does not work as it should, Hyundai failed again” ! It’s an aid…and it’s not perfect….drive with care. My point is, it’s waaay better than nothing, intrusive or not. 🙂

Collision avoidance and lane assist nearly killed me. I got sandwiched tight between two semi trucks on the highway and the collision warning buzzer came on the the lane assist wanted to pull my vehicle into the other semi truck. Lucky I am able to overpower the lane assist.

I have my lane assist set to alert only. I don't need any help with the steering.
