I pre-ordered the AWD limited back in April in Hampton Gray, see some are being delivered but no word on mine.

It's a med sized rural dealer, called bout two weeks ago, and they show it on order, but no delivery date, apparently they know what they getting in next 30 days.......getting kinda anxious

If you want to post the dealer name here or send it to me in private, I can dig to see if I can find anything for you.

Pmd dealer.

But preorder rep from Hyundai official site says they have the preorder, but the dealer never had ordered it........which has me really wondering what was the point of preorder.......

Unfortunately it seems there wasn't much point to the reservation process as it tells you that you really aren't reserving anything. The big issue looks like most of the customer reservation info wasn't passed on to the dealers until after cars were already on order for them - so they never knew what the customers wanted to try to get the car for them. Also, the dealers can't directly order a specific car for a customer. They can put a sold request in, but basically it's just saying John Doe wants to buy this Santa Cruz, then it's a matter of when they are going to be allocated additional SC and then does Hyundai have exactly what they are asking for available - if so, they could match right away on their first allocation or if it's a less popular combination it could take multiple months of allocations to be filled or sometimes not filled at all. Unfortunately it's not like with most domestic brands where you go to the dealer and while you are there they submit your order and you get a confirmation before you leave.

So the preorder rep tonite said I am in the preorder line as I had pre-ordered it.......which had me even more confused, since they (dealer) never ordered it.

So if they contact me in next couple days to finally order it........is my production priority/shipment going to be based on I pre-ordered it in April or that the dealer is just getting around to doing it now in August........have an increasingly sinking feeling I'm getting shafted.........

You're not the only one, almost none of us on the forum got/will be getting the exact vehicle from the exact dealership that the $100 reservation specified.

There is a ton of fine print, but in reality these first 2 sentences tell you what your $100 reservation gets you....a chance to configure a Santa Cruz & the "Hyundai Specialist" (outside 3rd party rep) will assist you in contacting a dealer... that's it in reality. It doesn't actually order you anything, doesn't put you in line ahead of anyone else.

So I guess I'll probally just end up cancelling it, would think after repeated purchases from a dealer and manufacturer you would get some kind of service......as I ordered within weeks of the premier, expected it this summer as they were saying late summer.

If it was just a gimmick to disappoint and piss off Hyundai owner's, its worked as this leaves the kind of bad taste that says there probally won't be a 5th.

Glad some of you got one as expected and on time, I evidently won't.

I wonder if Canada's system is different, because it specifically says "pre-order" ... Not too many judges would say that's open to interpretation.

I'm one of the few, the dealer received what I reserved in April, though I cancelled the res. a couple of weeks ago.

Well ... we're doing this good with their website still. "Pricing coming soon" LOL

It does indeed sound like our $500 is a pre-ORDER though. The legal says it's not a sale, but, well here:
Pre-Order and Deposit:
The payment of your Deposit does not constitute the actual purchase or lease of a vehicle. You must enter into a definitive vehicle purchase or lease agreement with your dealer to purchase or lease the vehicle. Your Deposit is not transferable or assignable to another party without the prior written approval of the dealer. Your deposit will be applied to the purchase of your new vehicle. You may request that your deposit be refunded. You may cancel your order at any time prior to entering into a definitive vehicle purchase or lease agreement with your dealer and you will receive a full refund of your Deposit in such case. Your Deposit will not be held in an escrow or trust fund. You will not receive any interest on your Deposit. You authorize Hyundai Auto Canada to provide the information you submit to your local dealer selected in order to fulfill your vehicle purchase. The dealer will also contact you in order to fulfill your vehicle purchase. Any personal information collected will be governed by Hyundai’s Privacy Policy.

So, it specifically refers to "your order" here and it is specifically a "deposit." There's no 'concierge' or anything here, the info, once I submitted payment, went directly to my selected dealer. So, maybe we have to wait longer, but maybe we'll also get exactly what we requested without any pricing games. Jury is still out ... haven't heard any updates in a couple of weeks now.

Once I read the fine print I knew the reservation system would be worthless. Plus all the details hadn't been announced so I had no idea what to request... heck I'm still trying to decide on a color (Sage vs Stone). No big deal, when a vehicle that meets my requirements arrives a local dealer and they are willing to sell at a reasonable price then I'll buy it. Until then no stress, just collecting information, watching reviews, maybe see a SC or two on the street. Like many I don't NEED a new car, my 20 year old truck continues to drag my boat just fine thankfully.

It's been a roller coaster of up and down, last nite finding out no one even knew where I was in line after being pre-ordered for months, was quite a low point.

But after posting last nite I looked and found one online, not exactly what I had wanted, but made an offer just home with a SEL Premium

Did have to pay a little "premium bonus" but had mudflaps and bed extender included.
Basically paid limited for a premium AWD. But drove lil over 100 miles home, really smooth and quiet ride, sport mode throatier and higher rpm, but didn't push it too hard being brand new.
