After they quit making them, it became so desirable, that people were paying up to three times the original sticker price. For used ones!
Limited production doesn't automatically mean desirable. I had a very rare yet unpopular car, a Volvo C30... and trust me it was no fun owning something that nobody can service or get parts for. Thankfully the SC is based on the Tuscon which Hyundai's best seller, the engine and tranny are shared with other H/K vehicles so hopefully the SC is supported well for years to come and doesn't become a rare bird or orphan.

Its not a question of good or bad quality or even original price - its about how many they make and if they prove popular over the long term. The Supra is a desirable classic for many reasons. Now look at the DeLorean, it was POS (under-powered and expensive) new, but its value has gone up since its an iconic movie car: The much-maligned DeLorean DMC-12 may be getting the last laugh - Hagerty Media
