Please don't hate I'm just curious why use a magnetic drain plug for the engine when that oil is filtered? Most engine wear is bearing material that won't even be captured by a magnet. Not to say that magnetized drain plugs don't have a place like non filtered or screen filterd differential, transfer cases and transmissions. Just seems to me to be possible a false sense of security. Again not to be a wet blanket but if you're capturing steel in crankcase oil damage is already done. I would like to hear other people's opinions on this subject. THANKS.

$15 to potentially capture some extra metal that might damage the engine seems like a good investment. Another way of looking at it... its not going to hurt anything so why not do it. Obvisiouly this is not an excuse to ignore regular scheduled oil & filter changes.
