Don’t get me wrong but I really like this vehicle but I need to vent. I’ve had it 6 months and I’m still learning how to use things, but that’s not my only gripe. I got the premium because that’s all that was available on the lot. I would have preferred a limited. However if you didn’t get one on the way to the dealership you were too late. As it was the one I got was already sold two days before I bought it! I guess they either found a better deal or a limited and cancelled this one. Here’s the deal. Like I said I like the premium as it has all I needed, but man if it had a glove box light and footwell lights and a switch in the bed for the bed lights that would make sense. Also they at least realized that wireless AA or CarPlay should have been a no brainer. I know I can fix the bed light switch at least and the wireless issue, but why? The limiteds leather with vented seats, bigger wheels and tires, and all around safety cams to me should really have been the only differences that people would choose at these upper levels. Other than that I would think the interiors should have been the same. Ok thanks I feel better now.

Do limiteds have footwell/glovebox lighting?
Footwell: no. There is ambient lighting in front door pockets and lower center console. Glovebox light: yes.

As for the switch on the bed light, there are two ways you can go about it. 1) there is a button right next to the steering column on the left that has a picture of the truck and a light on top, that is your bed light. 2) You can do this mod, which I did, and allows you to toggle on the bed light whenever you press/unlock the tailgate. I works great for when it is dark and I need to see what is in the bed without having to go up front and hitting the button every time

Thanks however I know all about that as I stated in my post. All should know though the eBay link no longer has the made up wire and the YouTube post has been deleted. I don’t need them as it is a simple procedure with cheap available components. I think someone left a copy of the video in a post about it for anyone who would need it. My point was we should have these things as standard and not options or have to hack into it ourselves.

I agree with you. Even at the limited level it has things I don't care for and doesn't have things that would have cost very little to add. I think a lot of car companies suffer the same fate. It would seem they want to sell you the top of the line package just so you can have a minor option missing from the lower trims.

I wouldn't consider HomeLink, leather seating with ventilation, 10.25" navi, rain-sensing wipers, Bose audio, 2nd row USB ports, BVM, Surround View Monitor, HDA, and SCC with Curve Control "minor options missing from lower trims".

None of these items are available in the SEL Premium or Night Edition, and you cannot add even a portion of these items for the "walk" in price between the trim levels; if at all.

No no ....what I meant was.. like for example when I purchased a Corvette all I wanted was a heads up display. It was literally a $500 part. But to get that option you had to spend an extra $5000 or more to get up to the next trim level just to get that included along with other options I didn't care for.

A la cart ordering is a thing of the past with the majority of manufacturers. Much more favorable business model to bundle items and force you to spend $5000 to get the $500 option you really want. Most of the European manufacturers have learned this as well. About the only exception (other than super cars) is Porsche (you can literally double the price of their least expensive model with individual options).

I do contract work at a dealership (not Hyundai). Pay to play is def in the pipeline.

LGHamp, Porsche has the highest profit margin per unit sold of any manufacturer, and you can get almost anything through the Exclusive Manfaktur program. If Hyundai did that we'd have at least $5k added to all trims and potential to "build" an $80k SC!

I mean from a purely business standpoint, I totally get it. What business would not want monthly residual income after the sale?
However the consumer side of me says: "don't try to fee f*ck me on top of the price I already paid."

Sorry I don't understand this logic. Why settle? Patience grasshopper... not everything works like Amazon Prime.

As for what options are available on what trims, this is marketing pure and simple. They are trying to force you to upgrade. As mentioned if you don't like this system look into Porsche since they allow you to combine or delete any option you want. They even charge you to REMOVE items but your in complete control, so much so that they will apply any paint color you desire. Of course you are going to pay big time for this level of customization.

In general US manufactures (Dodge, Ford, Chevy) are more flexible allowing you to mix and match - do a build-to-order for the Mav and you'll see. While the Asian manufactures (Hyundai, Toyota, Honda) use trim packages that have a take-it-or-leave-it approach. For example if I had my choice my Limited would not have a sunroof or sliding rear window but all the other goodies were must haves.
