Sorry I don't understand this logic. Why settle? Patience grasshopper... not everything works like Amazon Prime.

As for what options are available on what trims, this is marketing pure and simple. They are trying to force you to upgrade. As mentioned if you don't like this system look into Porsche since they allow you to combine or delete any option you want. They even charge you to REMOVE items but your in complete control, so much so that they will apply any paint color you desire. Of course you are going to pay big time for this level of customization.

In general US manufactures (Dodge, Ford, Chevy) are more flexible allowing you to mix and match - do a build-to-order for the Mav and you'll see. While the Asian manufactures (Hyundai, Toyota, Honda) use trim packages that have a take-it-or-leave-it approach. For example if I had my choice my Limited would not have a sunroof or sliding rear window but all the other goodies were must haves.
Totally agree on all points. The posts from people that include "dealer ripped me off on the sale, paid too much, dealer gouging, had to settle, couldn't get, couldn't find, etc) overlook the fact that Hyundai never forced them to buy anything, at any price. How about a little personal responsibility?

Indeed the mind boggles. Vehicles are way too expense to just accept whatever is on the lot. Hyundai sold 36k SC last year. BMW sold less 3 series models and Subaru sold less Imprezas... neither of those are "rare" cars, in fact they are pretty common.

I wouldn't consider HomeLink, leather seating with ventilation, 10.25" navi, rain-sensing wipers, Bose audio, 2nd row USB ports, BVM, Surround View Monitor, HDA, and SCC with Curve Control "minor options missing from lower trims".

None of these items are available in the SEL Premium or Night Edition, and you cannot add even a portion of these items for the "walk" in price between the trim levels; if at all.
Don't forget the most important option on the Limited, heated steering wheel.

Sales 101: Create a need to buy; now. I've always said: "They're not ripping you off if you hand them the money."

Yes that would have been the plan had I not been watching the lot since late 2021 waiting for one I could test drive. Seriously I waited and watched over a year so patience was no longer an option if you wanted one. Like I said the one I ended up with had already been sold 2 days earlier and the deal fell through. Had I not got there when I did who knows if someone else would have snapped it up. They had an sel trim in the show room that was sold already also but that was all they had for all the time I looked. I had contacted them back when they first came out and gave them my number to call when they got one and waited months and never got that call so I started watching myself and like I said it was months before one actually made it in not already sold.
So feel free to criticize if that‘s your opinion. Like I said I am happy with the vehicle. I would have paid for the extras if it were an option ever presented to me.

White Car Car seat cover Red Material property

My point was all I wanted was leather seats and a turbo and I had to get stuck with all these electronics that don't let you drive like a normal human being.
got leather seats and a turbo in both of our trucks....only cost 1800 more and there is
No comparison in the quality of the leather. Plus added a real stereo not bose garbage.

Ford's idea isn't entirely new. Back in the seventies, I knew a guy who was a mechanic at the Eagle Mountain open pit iron mine in southern CA. He worked on the A/C systems for the 70 & 100 ton dump trucks. Typical daytime temps were over 110 deg. If the drivers lost oil pressure, they wouldn't stop driving until they got back to the main shop, maybe two miles away. To keep the drivers from doing that, they set up the oil pressure sensor so that when the engine lost pressure, the A/C would shut off. Then the drivers would pull over, radio for immediate assistance and get out of the cab, which was getting too hot for human survival.
