Rubber band- Say what?

So I’ve been pushing what I thought was a red wire back up into the center console, drivers side near the gas pedal where the plastic meets the carpet. Today I pulled it and this came out. I’m guessing it’s something left behind from assembly. Anyone else find the same thing?

It’s what makes the SC go! Like one of those wind up balsa wood gliders with the twisted rubber band powered propeller. Put it back or your SC won’t go fast anymore. 😳

I’m with you Bobradley. Probably left from assembly. I’ve taken that console piece off of my SC for wiring purposes, which is next to the accelerator, and there is nothing there that would need a rubber band.

Hold on to that… it’s an OEM rare part.

If you are truly lucky Rollthedice will comment on how your vehicle will implode due to the removal of said red rubber band.

I am so glad to see this post. I have a tan one on the wiper/washer control handle. I have been afraid to remove it until I talk to service. I am still a few K away from first service so this helps with my decision.

Tater, it’s there to stretch and loop around the visor and hold the wiper control handle in the desired position.

I once found a screwdriver in vehicle... that was more worrisome.

Joking aside I had this too. I believe its for some tag like an airbag warning or other notice from the factory, for example that the vehicle is in shipping / service / valet mode. It might even be where they hang the FOB. I found it and some plastic around the seat belts the dealer obviously missed during PDI.

Once after the Space Shuttle landed, on inspection they found a small ladder in the main engine compartment.
