The fact that it does NOT have AS/S is one of the single greatest selling points to me. I loathe and detest AS/S with the burning passion of a thousand exploding suns. And what I don't understand, on vehicles that have AS/S is why there isn't a software option in the vehicle settings to entirely disable it. Every time I get in our Equinox I directly skip drive, go into manual mode and tap the + button 5 times. EVERY TIME. Just to ensure there is no AS/S affecting my drive. And I'm not even in Texas heat. I'm in Canadian heat, which occasionally gets as bad as Texas, but rarely. LOL
The mfrs know everyone hates it, so there must be some legal requirement; or maybe it's just needed to boost the MPG rating by that last tenth.
There are quite a few solutions, according to Google: moving the steering wheel, a/c on max...
Also, there is an inexpensive device you can plug into the hitch outlet to simulate the prsence of a trailer's lights, which keeps AS/S deactivated. Of course you need that elusive trailer harness for this....
Another, somewhat less elegant fix, consists of holding down the AS/S cancel button and wedging the corner of a credit card beside it, keeping it depressed. (This idea came from a Kia forum and seemed to have quite a bit of support.)
