Purchased Santa Cruz in April 2022.
Working well. Did notice some lurching when shifting from reverse to drive. Received recall notices. Took to dealer. Dealer attempted to download software to fix known issue with transmission. Download failed. Brought vehicle back at 8K for oil change. Successfully downloaded at this time. Then that’s when the problems started. Any time in reverse vehicle would shake, then shudder till Thursday 3/16 and the reverse no longer works. Left it at dealership in disgust. Have not heard a word till after the 6th call to dealership. GM called and promised I would hear from service department Saturday morning. Still no call.
no car no loaner.

Everytime I inquire about a loaner car for a low mileage warranty issue ... they laugh at me basically like oh we can put you on a list for 2-3 weeks from now.. 2 different dealers

I got a loaner or a enterprise rental car the same day under the warranty repair. After the transmission software update it probably needs a tcm learning and adaptive value reset. Some technicians don't perform it correctly. If tcm doesn't accept the software update, then the transmission control module might be defective. I think Hyundai doesn't like changing out the TCM due to the chip shortage and have people drive around until the transmission fails.

If it was me I would contact Hyundai USA to get an Enterprise Rental Car. Tell them if you don't get a loaner or Enterprise Rental Car and it stay in the shop for over 30 days, then it is considered a lemon. My dealer is slow as **** repairing vehicles. They don't want to buy back the vehicles so they give out loaners and rentals.

The dealer and manufacturer are not your friends. Don't go with the status quo how they treat other customers like crap.

Here in Florida they have to give a written estimate for all repair work over $50. What dealers here do is give a written estimate of around $260 for a diagnostic test. They charge $260 to connect a scanner to your vehicle and then give you another written estimate for the repair.

I will never buy another Nissan with the 36,000/3 year warranty. After the warranty ended, I ask to repair an oxygen sensor. They said they wanted $260 to do a diagnostic test. They are crazy if they think I am paying over $300 to replace an oxygen sensor. I will never buy a Nissan again.

I read the reviews that my Hyundai dealer also charges $260 for diagnostic test. I won't be coming back to this dealer after my warranty ends.

When I first took in my SC 3 months into ownership they did a trans update (unrelated to the new recall) and my reverse was f***ed up...it would jolt into reverse whether going into gear or out of it...then I got the recall notice a few months later for the new trans update...took it in and I guess they must have done it properly this time because reverse is flawless now...see if they'll redo the update
