Hello All,
I have been driving my SC for about three weeks now, and I am experiencing some transmission surging under acceleration. I am currently at about 1400 miles. The surging is very mild, but certainly noticeable. I was wondering if any of you are experiencing this as well? Have any of you been back to the dealer with any transmission related issues yet? Is there an explanation for this?

Is it 2WD or AWD?

I have a SEL AWD and have no surging or strange transmission behavior at all. 🤞

We just came back from a 3000 mile trip, about 2-4 times I felt a hesitation in acceleration (this was not the engine but a transmission issue, can't really explain it , like a shudder for just a second or two) when going up mountains from a slow speed to highway speed. Only lasted a second or two then was fine. If it does it again I will take it to the dealer for review.

So driving home in the rain this weekend I was coming off a ramp and tried to accelerate but the gears just rev'd up and I couldn't speed up passed 30 mph. Realizing some people on this forum dealt with the same issue, I pulled over....parked the car, turned off the SC, and restarted. Everything worked fine after. Going to see if it happens before I take it back to Hyundai.

@cent628, I interpret this as hesitation during upshifts. Does that sound accurate to you?
Yes it was a hesitation, but with a shudder that I could feel. Whether this is an issue or the nature of the beast that you get use to, I don’t know. The “shudder” has not increased since I came home from Maine. So right now I am not too concerned unless it starts doing it all of the time.

Depending on the transmission, the owner manual says that the computer takes a little to learn your style of driving and the transmission adapts to it. Page 6-22 of the owner manual, last paragraph states,
"During the first 1000 miles (1,500km), you may feel that the vehicle may not be smooth when accelerating at low speed. During this break-in period, the shift quality and performance of your new vehicle is continuously optimized."

Any updates on these little glitches from any of you?
Update: My Santa Cruz is still hesitating and shuddering. I’ve noticed it especially when I accelerate quickly. I am currently at 7K miles, and headed in for the first service next week. I will discuss it with them and update the thread.

Hey Mountainman, find anything out? I'm only at 900 miles but occasionally it gets a little weird (slow upshift, lurch acceleration). Overall it's very uncommon and usually only in random driving (such as an expressway that goes from stop and go to 60 mph and then back to stop and go in the span of a few miles).
