Hey everyone, so I am not very mechanically inclined and was wondering if anyone could help out.

I just purchased the SC. Got the SEL w/activity, but not the premium. So no Turbo. Im starting to get a little buyers remorse watching some of the videos and reading on here and mad I didn't get the turbo. Am I **** outta luck? Or is there a way I can get a hyundai approved turbo kit for what I currently have? I've been looking all over but seem to be coming up blank. Most likely because people just buy the engines with the factory turbo already installed and don't go the dumb way like I did. I just don't wanna void the warranty or get the wrong one or something. I want those extra ponies!!

Thanks in advance if you have the time to help a fellow CRUZer! 😁

I've turbo swapped and added turbo to many cars. It would be best to sell yours and get the turbo. There are many reasons why you probably won't see a turbo kit. Compression ratio being just one. Also if you spend the massive amount of money to get yours right and turbo charged and you get rear ended.... your insurance will buy you another stock non turbo. The rest is lost unless you get collector car or value appraised insurance which you likely wouldn't.

The cars sell high right now. If you want turbo sell and buy one back.

Well...being an old guy, my experience has been that buyers remorse dissipated as I lived with my current decision and discovered all aspects of what this current choice provided.

FWIW...several owners on here have expressed the belief the SEL with activity package is the best value in the SC line up.

You can always pull the trigger 2 months from now....

Not a turbo, but I just added throttle controller which has sharpened up the base engine a ton. It'll never feel like the turbo, but it responds immediately now and completely changed my opinion of the base engine option (which i have been very harsh on). Otherwise, if you really want a turbo, you'd be better off selling your SC to Carmax, taking a small hit, and buying the premium. Installing, tuning, and maintaining a turbo outside a warranty is going to cost you a lot(A LOT) more and tank your resell value to boot.

You can read through the thread here - Anyone else having a flat/dead spot in the acceleration...

Spot on. Adding a turbo to the base engine is a sure fire way to burn through money you'll never get back. The reliability factor alone is enough to never consider this option as even remotely viable. 10 years from now when SCs have depreciated to the point of being project cars then maybe. Even then I'd rather upgrade the factory turbo then start from scratch.
