What did you do to your Santa Cruz today?

On another car forum I'm part of there is a "What did you do to your __ today?" People post mods, use, maintenance, etc. It was a cool place to see what all was available for your car and how it came out.

So I'll start this one. Today I installed a Tonnosport cover ($296 from Realtruck.com), Auxito LED headlights (Amazon), Weathertech front floor mats (also Realtruck), and hung a full size spare in the back (Palisade rim from eBay).

The Tonnosport was a pretty easy install with my 6 year old's help (she's handy). The mats and tire were super easy, the lightbulbs were kind of easy. I went down from the top and did a lot of wiggling, but got it done in about twenty minutes. Some rubber gloves for better grip helped as well as being pretty good at using both left and right hands. Expect some minor cuts and scrapes on your forearms though.

Here's the Auxito listing: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B07WMG4...abc_5NXQPDGQYDG130T1DGPW?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

Spent my whole day and then some on a full paint decon, clay, polish and ceramic coat. Ceramic coating is Gtechniq Crystal Serum Light, topped with EXO V5. Love the Gtechniq products and use them on all my vehicles.

Unfortunately, being black, it only looked good for a short time. The pollen is nasty right now and everything is coated in yellow.

My previous Santa Fe Sport was black, and I swore I would never do it again. Hampton Gray SC was also available. SMH :)

Installed Curt 13486 hitch, waiting on the wiring and some brackets to come in. I hope I don't have to uninstall it to mount the bracket.
There was a gap against the frame like others were reporting with this hitch. It wasn't a big deal because the gap had disappeared by the time all the bolts were torqued down.

My replacement bed cover came in and now that it's been replaced and working correctly, I placed the fishing rod holder I made in the bed. And with the bed extension cage, lots of room for the pier or beach cart, tackle, and rods.
Now when I unload, the rack and extension are somewhat secure under the cover.

Nice work! But I don’t understand how this holds fishing rods….just looking at it
Rods slide into teh rod holders and they point up at a 30 degree angle, just like on a boat.
Those black holes are flush mount rod holders.
Zoom in on the bottom of the board in the second photo, you can see the tubes.
On days when I’m not taking the boat, rod holders!

Ok, so they stick out of the bed….so do you transport them like that?
Nah that's how he catches the fish 😂

Yes, they stay put. The length of the tube and the weight of the rods and reels hold them there. Than when unloading them into the beach cart, the rack stays in the bed and is closed up and locked in there.

They also make great rod holders when fishing if I back up to the water. AWD will pull in the big ones.

Smart…s. 🤣
Hey, maybe he backs up on a pier to the end and then throws the lines out in a fanned out direction and then waits for movement on the rod? Who knows what people do…? That’s why I asked. Innovation is the mother of invention.

Hah, I just read your reply…I hadn’t thought about AWD and the whale from Moby Dick! Good idea! 😳🤣
People do do that Gary. There are places near me where you back up to the water and use rod holders in the truck just as you say.
I cant take the SC on the beach so I have a cart that has rod holders on it and when I fish in the gulf, the rods are in the holders in the cart. Sit in a chair and wait for the rod to bend over in the holder.
