Just picked up a Thule Tepui Explorer Kukenam 3 on sale now everywhere. This tent has been known as the standard other soft cover roof top tents are measured against for many years. Plan to mount it low over the bed openning to the rear on 2x10's sitting vertically on the 4x8 plywood supports so it can be removed easily at a camp site for raised ground use or home for storage. It measures 56" x 48" x 12" closed and has a 96" x 56" footprint open with 52" of height for great headroom inside. Rated as a 2-3 person RTT with a 600lb static weight capacity. The tent itself weighs 119lb.
Will post up the install once my Bicep-Tenodesis surgery heals a few months out (Snapped my long-head bicep tendon months ago and just got it reattached to my upper arm bone). No lifting for me right now, just holiday relaxing and long walks at the beach or mall with an arm sling to keep myself active (lol)...
Hoping my install design will still allow two MTB's to be fork mounted to my single crossbar with rear tires on the bed side tops like I mount them now on an SEL model without roof rails. We will see if it can be done soon.
Happy Holidays!
