UPS dropped off my wheels for the winter… Still waiting for the tires
I still haven’t seen my SC in day-light yet. Daughters been driving it, while I use my commuter. Drive to work in the dark and drive home in the dark… I might see the SC in sunlight this weekend.

What Brand Rims did you get?

Happy to hear towing was a breeze with the SC.

May I ask what your trailer weighs?
Do you have 7-pin with trailer brakes? Sway control?
Do you know mpg you got towing it?
Did it struggle at all, being a relatively light vehicle?

Starved for towing reviews… thanks in advance.
😊
1. Lance Model 1475 travel trailer has a dry weight of 2600 lbs, I went to a CAT Scale and got the following weights.
Steer Axle: 2500 lbs.
Drive Axle: 2900 lbs.
Trailer Axle: 3820 lbs.
Gross Weight of 9,220 lbs.

2. Yes I had a 7-pin connector installed at a local trailer mfg company. (Not Hyundai dealer). Some states require trailer brakes when towing anything over 2,000 lbs. Purchased a Curt Echo wireless trailer brake controller. So easy to set up and use. I had no issues with sway control. I have a weight distribution hitch.

3. Got about 12mpg the towing.

4. As I noted, I had no issues at all towing. Plenty of power passing other trailers. The 2.5 Turbo motor had plenty of power when towing up hills. We were camping in a hilly area of Pennsylvania with no hint of a struggle.

When I was getting ready to purchase my SC, I made it very clear to the salesman that I needed a vehicle that could pull 5,000 lbs.and had to have a 7-pin connector harness. I was assured by the salesman that the Santa Cruz SEL Premium 2.5L Turbo motor AWD included the tow package with trailer sway control. Trailer sway control is part of the transmission sensing equipment I guess. Needless to say when I went I take delivery there was no trailer hitch receiver. What good is a tow package if you have no way to hook up a trailer? And to make matters worst, there were no tow hitch receivers available. None, anywhere. I was ready to cancel the deal when I found a local welder/ fabricator who was willing to build me a new tow receiver from scratch. I was so angry that Hyundai was promoting the vehicle with a tow package, yet there was no way to purchase one. I know that some SCs being shipped to Canada had the tow receivers but here in the USA none to be found. I purchased my SC in late August. Receivers are now available. Good luck.

That's amazing! The trailer looks huge behind the SC. Glad to hear it is living up to its' towing capacity, albeit after "you" had to jump through your own private market hoops to get it done. (y)

Ok, so winter tires arrived at Costco today… however, they said I have to wait two weeks for the next available opening to install… just went to the closest place I could find to get it installed.
Winters on now.

The wheels look sharp @GTAcruz!! Black wheels in general just look really good on it - whether it's the blacked out factory 18s or aftermarket.

I might try to brave our streets later. Took 2 full tanks of gas in the snow blower, but I finally got enough driveway cleared out that I can make it to the street. Not that they've been plowed yet anyway. The weather-heads are saying we got just over 30cm from Wednesday night until this morning. ALL very heavy, wet snow. If it was the fluffy kind, we'd have been well over 50cm - but it would be easier to clear. Can't shovel it, can't snowblow it, even plow trucks and quads are struggling. It just packs up into an ice wall. Horrible crap to deal with. But the truck is uncovered. Glad I remembered to put the wipers up when I parked it so I could find it in the drifts!! LOL

Trans-Canada highway has been fully closed for two days, JUST starting to get moving. Shut down from Manitoba to Thunder Bay. Only a 550km stretch.

Oh, for our US counterparts ... 30cm is about 12", 50 is about 20". 550km works out to just over 340 miles. You're welcome. :)
