They make non-slip pads that you can place on dashes that will do just what you are looking to do. There's nothing permanent about them. You can remove them without leaving a mark.
Do a search on "dashboard non slip pad".

Another benefit of the cut to fit drawer liners is that you can remove them for cleaning / disposal, and have options on texture color.

I should look into these too because my wife’s phones go flying all the time.

 

I'm probably going to get a set of inserts like thwipp's suggestion. Have used them on a Subaru Crosstrek and an Outback and liked them. The ones I have seen so far for the SC don't have the dash tray. But that is a lot to spend on just one piece. I'll keep looking at SC versions. Maybe it will show up or I contact the seller and see if they can include in the other kit for me. Doubtful, but you never know.

cheap quick fix would be those drawer liners that you can cut to fit. i have the one part from this set on mine. the rest are for the hybrid tuscon but the dash one fits.
